Welcome Resolution for Ardee Educate Together Project – O’Dowd and Minogue

Local Fine Gael colleagues, Deputy Fergus O’Dowd and Cllr Dolores Minogue have welcomed news that Minister Donohoe and Foley have resolved the funding delays on the long awaited Ardee Educate Together School New Build.

The school project was one of  the 58 school projects paused temporarily because of funding pressures on the Department of Education’s building programme.

O’Dowd said “This is fantastic news for the school, once I received the welcome update from my colleague Minister Donohoe I was straight in touch with Principal Middleton.

“I would like to again thank Principal Middleton and the parents council for their patience in what has been a short but unsettling delay and I hope we will now see the project get back on track for delivery in the very near future.

“Once I learned of the funding issues I immediately raised the pressing matter in the Dail with the Minister for Education and most recently with the Taoiseach, both of whom reassured me that a solution was imminent.

My colleague Ardee Councillor Dolores Minogue has also been pressing the relevant officials to make sure this vital project progressed without further delay.

Cllr Minogue said “This news will come as major relief to the community, after 12 long years we were so close to commencement and then we learned of the funding review which effectively put the project on pause.

We can now look to the future where this this new state of the art school will be built for generations to come in Ardee and surrounds.”
