St. Marks Friday Café a welcoming place for the community – Lockhart

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart called with the ladies at St Mark’s Portadown on Friday, at the Friday Café initiative. The DUP representative was joined by local Councillor Margaret Tinsley.

Speaking after the visit, Carla Lockhart said:

“Across Upper Bann so many churches are serving the local community in a variety of ways, offering support and encouragement to those in need of help.

Here at St. Mark’s in Portadown the Friday Café is one such example. Open every Friday from 10am – 12noon for everyone from the local community, all those in attendance will be made feel so welcome.  It is free of charge to call in and is aimed at tackling loneliness and isolation.  Of course there is the added benefit of lovely food, with lots of very nice buns and cup of tea or coffee on offer in a warm and friendly environment.

I would encourage people to call in and avail of this really good initiative. The ladies here put a great deal of effort into the Café, and I know they would love to see more people availing of what is on offer.”
