Aontú Hold Cost-of-Living Public Meeting on March 13th at 7.30pm in Newry

Aontú have announced a Cost-of-Living Public Meeting for March 13th at
7.30 pm in The Bank, Trevor Hill in Newry

Speaking today, Aontú Rep for Armagh DEA, Daniel Connolly said “Aontú
are holding a public meeting on the Cost-of-Living Crisis on March 13th
at 7.30pm in The Bank, Tervor Hill in Newry. Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín,
Aontú Rep for Slieve Croob, Rosemary McGlone and myself will speak about
the Cost-of-Living Crisis. For over a year now, our community has been
suffering from the worst Cost-of-Living crisis in living memory. The
Stormont parties have been too busy with political playground games to
take action to mitigate the crisis for families.”

“In fact, in many cases, the establishment parties have made this
situation worse. Recently, all Parties in Newry, Mourne, and Down
Council allowed a Rates increase. An increased rate of 5.99% will put an
absurd burden on families as they are already struggling to make ends
meet.”

The Aontú representative for the Slieve Croob DEA, Rosemary McGlone
continued “There is also a massive crisis in our health care system with
Daisy Hill haemorrhaging services, doctors and nurses. This year, Newry
and Mourne are expected to have the 3rd highest population in the whole
of the North of Ireland, and yet the medical services are not in place
to accommodate this.”

“We are encouraging everyone to attend this public meeting. Our
community is being hammered by these crises, while MLAs are not doing
the work they were sent to Stormont to do. We need to take action.”
Concluded McGlone
