Sinn Féin councillor Bróna Haughey has said that something must be done to improve road safety at the Dundrum/Granemore crossroads.
The Cusher councillor said:
“I have raised this issue with DFI a number of times on behalf of local residents.
“While there are some signs in place currently, there have still been incidents reported as recently as this week of traffic failing to stop at the Crossroads, resulting in very near misses for the drivers.
“DFI have said that because of there being little official data of collisions, there isn’t much that they can do at present.
“I have said that even the anecdotal evidence shows that this is far more of an issue than it should be and have asked DFI to explore all possible options to increase awareness of the Crossroads and improve road safety at the site.
“I would urge all who travel on this road to take due caution when approaching these Crossroads, to be vigilant and to drive with care.
