Sinn Fein councillor Cathal King has said that road safety must be improved on the Ferryhill road in Killean.
Councillor King said:
“The Sinn Fein team have worked on behalf of residents to raise this issue for a number of years.
“We initially asked for a crash barrier to be installed to ensure that cars do not go off the sheer drop at the side of the road.
“We also requested that the road be added to DFI’s gritting schedule given how dangerous the road can be in icy conditions.
Liz Kimmins MLA also commented:
“It is disappointing that there has also been no progress regarding the installation of a crash barrier, this is despite residents witnessing an incredibly dangerous accident over Christmas.
“Sinn Féin will continue to press DFI to ensure that they take the concerns of both the residents and ourselves seriously.
“This road must be made safer for local residents and all who travel on it.
