Louth Fine Gael TD, Fergus O’Dowd, has warmly welcomed news received from his colleague, Minister Simon Harris, that €2.6 million in funding has been approved for two collaborative projects led by DKIT.

“This was part of a national announcement that will see €16.2 million in funding from Science Foundation Ireland targeting 15 collaborative projects aimed at increasing research capacity within the Technological Universities (TUs) and Institutes of Technology (IoTs).

O’Dowd said “I would like to wish the local awardees every success in their collaborative projects in the Health and AI Software sectors.

“It is an absolute must that we support the development of research capabilities within our Institutes and Universities across the country.

O’Dowd added “Improved research can help create new opportunities and provide critical solutions across all sectors of society.

“This announcement also falls in the middle of national Science Week (13th- 20th November) with hundreds of events for all age groups taking place throughout the country.”
