Dickson PS Commended for Remembrance Assembly

Local Member of Parliament Carla Lockhart has joined with pupils at Dickson Primary School, and members of Royal British Legion Lurgan and Brownlow Branch, at a special Assembly to mark Armistice Day.

Speaking after the Assembly, Carla Lockhart said:

“It is important that our young people are taught about the sacrifice of our forefathers, and the need to pause and reflect and remember the price paid for the freedoms we all enjoy today.

With this in mind, it was lovely to join with pupils at Dickson Primary School at a special Assembly to mark Armistice Day. It was clear that the pupils had spent time learning about the World Wars, and had an insight into the conditions faced by those on the battlefield. The P4 class did a wonderful piece, walking us through the soldiers time in the trenches, why we remember and also paying a special tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who of course volunteered for service at the tender age of 19.

I pay tribute to the Principal and staff involved in organising this wonderful time of education, reflection and remembrance, and to all the pupils involved. It was wonderful to be part of it.”
