The Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association [IRPWA] are set to have their annual vigil for Republican Prisoners and their families on Thursday 1st December at the Christmas Tree on Hill Street, Newry.
The annual event is organised by the IRPWA each December to show solidarity and support to Republican Prisoners and their dependents at this time of year.
Speaking ahead of the event former Republican Prisoner Stephen Murney said “The working class endure enough hardship, particularly at Christmas time, and Prisoners families will find it especially difficult.
“With December traditionally being ‘Prisoners Month’ in the Republican calendar we will be urging everyone to spare a though for our captive comrades and their families.”
Murney concluded “Assemble at the Christmas Tree, Hill Street, Newry at 7pm on Thursday 1st December.
Wear your green ribbon with pride.”
