Sinn Féin councillor Oonagh Magennis has welcomed a commitment from DFI to resurface the Hall road/Crossmaglen road is Lislea as well as a section of the Newry Road in Camlough.
The Slieve Gullion councillor said:
“Since being elected in 2019 I have lobbied on behalf of local residents and road users for the resurfacing of these roads.
“I’m glad to now have a commitment from DFI that the Hall road/Crossmaglen road in Lislea will be resurfaced as soon as contractors finish their current job and that the Newry Road in Camlough will be resurfaced from St. Paul’s High School and back towards Camlough village.
“It is hoped that the works in Lislea will begin very shortly while the works for the Newry road will commence in July 2023 when the school year ends, to minimise disruption.
“Both of these roads are in major need of repair, and this is a welcome commitment from DFI that will help to improve road safety for the people of South Armagh.
