The decades long abortion legislation entitled Roe v Wade has been overturned via the Supreme Court in the United States.
The move which is set to send shockwaves across North America albeit the world as many states are set to overturn decades of abortion laws in favour of prolife legislation.
The abortion issue has always been a contentious one both here in Northern Ireland and abroad which is set to continue following the recent Supreme Court ruling in the United States.
The ruling means the power to decide on abortion rights will now be handed to the 50 states to determine individually. A precedent is now set whereby other countries could follow suit.
The question now remains will this ruling have an effect on the issue of abortion here in Northern Ireland? The Secretary of State recently indicated that if the devolved government does not act on abortion legislation then he will.
