Sinn Féin MLA John O’Dowd has given a warm reception to the opening of the Game of Thrones Studio Tour.
“I welcome the opening of the Game of Thrones Studio Tour at Linen Mill Studios.
This is an exciting development that will bring tourists to Banbridge from across Ireland and further afield. It will also give a timely boost to the local economy. It is estimated that – pre-pandemic – around 350,000 people visited the north annually specifically for Game of Thrones, so those figures bode well for Banbridge.”
“Increased tourist numbers will also again bring into focus the need for improving links to Banbridge from other areas of Upper Bann, particularly Craigavon, Lurgan and Portadown, large population centres with railway stations and motorway links.
I will continue to explore how such improvements can be made with the Department for Infrastructure and will lobby the minister thereon.”
