Sinn Féin councillor for the Slieve Gullion area, Declan Murphy, has condemned a suspected pipe bomb attack on a house in the JFK park area of Bessbrook.
Declan said:
“Residents of JFK park reported a loud bang late on Thursday evening and the Police were called to the scene.
“It is absolutely unacceptable that families were forced to leave their homes on a cold January night as a result of this security alert.
“This criminal gang is responsible for placing this device in a built up, residential area where it could have caused serious harm to families in the area.
“Those responsible for this event have nothing to offer and this is an attack on the entire community.
“I would urge anyone with information on what happened to bring it forward to the PSNI.”
