Events in Dungormley Estate in Newtownhamilton on Sunday night (27th June) were unacceptable says Sinn Féin councillor for the area Barra Ó Muirí.
On Sunday evening a gang of men set upon an individual causing serious injury. This led to the PSNI armed response unit being deployed and in total, four arrests being made.
Residents Association members were insulted and verbally abused, while neighbours were afraid to leave their homes until the following afternoon.
On Monday, I attended a meeting of the Housing Executive, the PSNI and the Residents Group. There, the residents made it clear that intimidation, threats and violence have no place whatsoever in a residential housing estate.
As local councillor, I will work with all residents and agencies to ensure that the community of Dungormley estate and everywhere else are safe, secure and happy in their own homes.”
