Orchard County overcome Cavan in thrilling Croke Park battle to capture Premier Junior crown

Armagh are All-Ireland champions after overcoming Ulster rivals Cavan in a dramatic Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship Final at Croke Park.

The Orchard County emerged victorious on a 0-17 to 0-15 scoreline, finally getting their hands on the trophy following the disappointment of losing last year’s All-Ireland final.

It was anything but straightforward.

Cavan pushed Armagh all the way in a fiercely contested Ulster showdown on the biggest stage in Irish camogie, but Armagh held their nerve when it mattered to secure a memorable two-point victory.

Croke Park heartbreak finally put to bed

For Armagh, the victory carries particular significance.

The county had suffered a succession of painful defeats at Croke Park and entered Sunday’s decider looking to finally end that run. Armagh had finished runners-up in the Premier Junior Championship in 2021, 2022 and 2025, making today’s breakthrough particularly sweet.

Last year’s defeat to Laois meant Armagh returned to Croke Park with unfinished business.

This time, they finished the job.

Armagh established a 0-10 to 0-6 half-time advantage, but Cavan refused to allow the Orchard County to pull clear and mounted a determined second-half challenge.

With the pressure building and an All-Ireland title on the line, Armagh showed the composure required to see the game out.

And years of Croke Park frustration were replaced by celebration.

Another All-Ireland title for the Orchard County

The triumph adds another chapter to Armagh’s camogie history.

Armagh previously captured the Premier Junior crown in 1993 and 2020, meaning today’s success represents another major national title for the county.

It also comes six years after Armagh defeated today’s opponents Cavan in the 2020 All-Ireland Premier Junior final.

But the circumstances surrounding this victory make it particularly significant.

After coming so close on several occasions, this Armagh team has continued to return, regroup and challenge again.

In 2025, they walked away from Croke Park beaten finalists. Twelve months later, they leave as All-Ireland champions.

A huge day for Armagh camogie

The celebrations will now begin across County Armagh as players, management, backroom staff, clubs, families and supporters savour an achievement years in the making.

Cavan deserve enormous credit for their part in an absorbing final and ensured Armagh had to fight until the very end.

But Sunday belonged to the Orchard County.

From the clubs developing players at grassroots level to those who travelled to Croke Park wearing orange and white, this is a victory for the wider Armagh camogie community.

Two points separated the teams. One trophy was on the line. And it is heading home with Armagh.
