Justin McNulty MLA joined Daisy Hill advocate groups SOS Daisy Hill and the Daisy Hill Future Group for a meeting with the Minister of Health, Robbie Butler, in Stormont.
The meeting was convened to discuss the groups’ concerns regarding the potential closure of maternity services at Daisy Hill.
As a member of the committees, McNulty stood with the groups in highlighting the implications and concerns for expectant mothers and their families if maternity services at Daisy Hill are removed.
McNulty stated:
“Speaking with the Health Minister was an important opportunity for SOS Daisy Hill and the Daisy Hill Future Group to be heard by key decision-makers in the Department of Health, including the Health Minister and his Senior Officials. In the meeting the Minister affirmed his dedication to ensuring that Daisy Hill maternity services remain open. Members of both groups asked many questions regarding difficult problems that still need answered. I will continue to bring these issues to the Health Minister and the Southern Trust. Daisy Hill maternity services are not expendable and the safest option for mothers and babies is keeping the doors open.”
