Several schools across Northern Ireland have been evacuated this morning (Monday, 19 October) after threatening emails were sent warning that explosive devices had been placed inside school buildings.
BBC News NI reports that more than 100 schools received the threatening email, with some asking parents to collect their children immediately.
Schools reportedly affected include:
– St Colman’s Primary School – Lambeg, Lisburn
– Harpur’s Hill Primary School – Coleraine
– Rosstulla Special School – Newtownabbey
– Greenisland Primary School – Greenisland
This is not a complete list, and further schools may have received the email.
Advice for parents
Parents concerned about their children’s safety are advised to:
– Contact their child’s school directly for information.
– Check school websites, official social media pages and parent messaging systems.
– Follow instructions issued by their school.
– Avoid travelling to collect children unless instructed to do so.
Parents should not assume their child’s school is affected simply because other schools have received threats.
Police investigation underway
The PSNI has confirmed it is investigating the threatening emails and is working with the schools involved.
Police say urgent enquiries are ongoing and further updates will follow.
At this stage, there has been no confirmed discovery of an explosive device.
Similar threats in Republic of Ireland
The incident comes just days after more than 150 schools in the Republic of Ireland reportedly received similar threatening emails on Wednesday, 14 October.
Gardaí launched an investigation into those threats.
It has not been confirmed whether the two incidents are connected.
Clanrye News & Sport will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
Parents are encouraged to contact their schools directly for the latest information and follow official guidance.
