Greenfield Park have moved to the top of the Carnbane League First Division after another impressive victory, with just two points now separating the division’s three unbeaten sides.
The early battle for the 2026/27 First Division is beginning to take shape following Saturday’s latest round of fixtures, with Greenfield Park, Orchard United and Killeavy United all still unbeaten.
Greenfield were one of the big winners on Saturday, defeating Ashgrove Rovers 3-1 to move onto seven points from their opening three matches.
That result, combined with Orchard United’s draw against Killeavy, means Greenfield have climbed to first place on goal difference.
Greenfield’s unbeaten start
Greenfield’s opening three results underline just how strongly they have started the new campaign.
They opened with a 2-2 draw against Killeavy United, followed that with a 3-0 victory over Newry Rovers, and have now beaten Ashgrove 3-1.
That gives them seven points from a possible nine, with a goal difference of +5.
Orchard drop first points
Orchard United had been the early pace-setters after winning both of their opening matches.
Their perfect record came to an end on Saturday, however, as Killeavy United held Orchard to a 2-2 draw.
The point keeps Orchard unbeaten and moves them onto seven points, but their +3 goal difference means they now sit second behind Greenfield.
Killeavy are also yet to lose.
They have five points from three matches and a +5 goal difference, leaving them just two points behind the leading pair.
Finn Harps hit five
Further down the table, Finn Harps recorded the biggest First Division victory of the weekend, defeating Newry Rovers 5-1.
The result moves Harps up to fourth place on four points and dramatically improves their goal difference from -2 to +2.
Church Street are also on four points after securing a 3-2 victory over Cartwheel United.

Three unbeaten sides at the top
Only three rounds into the season, there is still a long way to go, particularly with Cartwheel, Rockview and Newry Rovers having played one game fewer.
But the first signs of a three-way battle at the top are beginning to emerge.
Greenfield Park and Orchard United are locked together on seven points, while Killeavy sit just two points behind.
Crucially, none of the top three have lost a game.
With Greenfield now holding top spot on goal difference, the fight for the First Division could be one of the stories to follow throughout this Carnbane League season.
