Newry Celtic have moved to the top of the Carnbane Football League Premier Division after a thumping 7-0 victory over Ballyholland on Saturday.
The result was the standout scoreline from the Premier Division fixtures on Saturday, 29 August, as Mayobridge and Millburn United also picked up important victories.
Newry Celtic go top
Newry Celtic produced a ruthless display against Ballyholland, running out 7-0 winners and significantly boosting their goal difference in the process.
It continues an excellent start to the 2026/27 league campaign for Celtic, who now sit top of the Premier Division with seven points from three matches and a goal difference of +11.
Their opening three league games have therefore yielded two victories and a draw.
However, Cleary Celtic remain right on their heels. Cleary sit second with six points from two games, meaning they have a game in hand on the current leaders.
Mayobridge continue unbeaten start
Mayobridge also maintained their unbeaten beginning to the league season with a 2-1 victory over Villa Rovers.
The win takes Mayobridge onto four points from their opening two games, leaving them third in the table and firmly among the early pace-setters.
Villa Rovers, meanwhile, remain without a point after their first league outing.
Millburn get first points
Millburn United secured their first victory of the campaign with a 2-1 away win over Rossowen.
That moves Millburn into fourth position with three points from two games, while Rossowen remain without a point after their opening two matches.

How the table stands
Newry Celtic lead the way with seven points from three games, one point ahead of Cleary Celtic, who have played one match fewer.
Mayobridge are third on four points, followed by Millburn United on three.
At the other end, Villa Rovers, Rossowen and Ballyholland are still searching for their first points of the campaign.
Ballyholland have endured a particularly difficult opening, with their goal difference now standing at -12 after two matches.
There is still a long way to go, but the early Premier Division picture is beginning to take shape — and with Newry Celtic, Cleary Celtic and Mayobridge all unbeaten, the battle at the top could already be developing into an intriguing one.
