Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has said the Communities Minister is failing LGBTQIA+ people by refusing to bring forward the much-needed LGBTQIA+ strategy.
Speaking on Lesbian Visibility week the South Down MLA said:
“At a time when LGBTQIA+ rights are under attack across the globe, it is vital that we have a strategy in place here.
“A strategy that will actually help us progress the ban on harmful conversion practices and improve non-discrimination and equality legislation.
“I asked the Minister for an update on the LGBTQIA+ strategy.
“It was disappointing to hear that he is continuing to stall on the delivery of this vital strategy that would address gaps and weaknesses in legal protections for LGBTQIA+ people in the north.”
