The Workers Party candidate in next week’s local elections, Nicola Grant, has called for an end to the vandalising of posters after a spate of incidents in the Newry area in recent days.
“It is saddening as much as it is annoying”, she said ” that people, and most of them young people,
feel that it is either clever or acceptable to tear down or deface election posters.”
“A number of my own posters have been damaged, defaced or simply disappered, but it is a problem
for all candidates and for all parties. I am calling on those responsible to stop this nonsense immediatley.
If they are looking for something better to do with their time then they should direct their energies towards making this a fairer, more equitable and more prosperous society”, Nicola said.
