The announcement of 180 job losses at Norbrook Laboratories has been described as “a terrible blow to the local economy and tragic news for local workers and their families”
Speaking after the announcement, Nicola Grant of the Workers Party said,
“Only last year the Norbrook company made profits of £28.4 million and only a few weeks ago made a major investment in its US based operations. Yet it is laying off almost 10% of the workforce rather than standing by the very employees who have built and sustained the company over many years.”
“Norbrook’s skilled and dedicated workforce has made this company what it is to day, despite Norbrook’s long standing resistance to trade union membership. It is time now for the company to acknowledge the workforce’s long standing commitment and return that in equal measure by reversing their redundancy decision”, Nicola said
