Progress on the Newry Community Treatment and Care Centre has been welcomed by Nicola Grant of the Workers Party.
” This has been a long-drawn-out project, but the news that additional ground at Abbey Way has now been secured will hopefully be the catalyst for major progress over the coming months,” Nicola said.
“Bringing community services together under one roof signals a major step forward in the delivery of a range of outpatient services, diagnostics and specialist clinics which have previously been delivered from up to thirteen separate locations spread across the Newry area”.

“This new centre will provide a single location and focal point for community services making access easier for patients and significantly facilitating the provision of integrated care by the healthcare professionals”, she said.
” I am very keen to see as many community services as possible in the new Centre and have written to the Southern Health and Social Care Trust to seek assurances that GP practices will be included alongside District Nursing, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Health Visiting, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Community Dental Services, Sensory Impairment, Mental Health teams including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and other services”, Nicola said.
