SDLP MLA Justin McNulty has welcomed the announcement of improved road safety measures for Killean Primary School, but says that more needs to be done to guarantee the safety of pupils, parents and teachers.
Improved signage and road markings will be installed at Killean PS after extensive lobbying from local representatives and the school community.
Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty said: “I am grateful that the Department for Infrastructure have recognised the need to improve road safety at Killean PS, and I want to pay particular tribute to Principal Cónán McAteer who has been ferocious in his advocacy for the safety of his pupils and staff.
“I welcome the announcement of improved signage and road markings at the school, but it is important that we keep working and fighting to ensure that traffic calming measures and reduced speed limits are delivered at the school to guarantee the safety of this school community.”
