Newry community group, Three Ways Community Association, based in Three Ways Community Centre, Well Lane, Newry has donated a wonderful £3,000 to local charities within the Newry area.
Within 6 months of 2022, the association delivered several community events and fundraisers including a open-air cinema, funday and Santa Sunday in aid of Macmillan Cancer, Newry Gateway and PIPS Hope and Support.
On Wednesday 15th February, members of the association welcomed each of the charities to the community centre to receive £1,000 each to help the services delivered by these incredible and vital charities.
Speaking at the presentation, chairperson Cathy Keenan thanked the individuals and families who donated big-heartedly and generously and the charities for providing valuable resources with the community. “During 2022, our committee members at a monthly meeting voted on charities who would become our 2022 charities of the year and I am delighted that these 3 fundamental charities all of whom deliver vital services to our community in supporting those affected by cancer, suicide prevention, and supporting children and adults with disabilities. As a community Association, we wish to thank all the charities for their tireless work.”
Cathy continued, “Not possible without their support, we send a huge thank you to the several individuals and families who attended all of the events and donated so generously raising such a tremendous amount of funds in a short time that will no doubt be invested into the greater Newry community and to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for their continued support.”
Charity representatives, Aidan Carroll, Deirdre Shields, and Padraig Harte passed on their appreciation and thanks from the charities to the members of Three Ways Community Association, the local community and all those who kindly supported the association in their endeavors of fundraising for their charities.
