Sinn Féin spokesperson Mary O’Dowd has said all effort must be made to ensure people can see a dentist when they need one through the health service.
Mrs O’Dowd said:
“Reports that access to NHS dental care could be at risk is deeply concerning and totally at odds with the very ethos of the health service.
“As a mother of a young family I know the importance of being able to see a dentist through the NHS when a a family need one.
‘ Workers and families face enough pressures without adding paying for a dentist for their children to the ever growing list of financial pressures.
“We clearly need an Executive to deliver a clear plan and work to recruit more dentists and dental nurses.”
