Long Overdue Road Repairs Secured for High Street – Harte

Sinn Féin councillor Valerie Harte has welcomed a commitment from DFI to carry out a resurfacing of High Street, Newry in the coming Financial year.

The Newry City councillor said:

“After much lobbying of DFI on behalf of local residents, I am glad to have a commitment from DFI to carry out these works.

“They have said that the works should be carried out in this coming financial year, subject to budget availability.

“There have been some patch works done as an interim measure, however these are a short term solution to the long term issue.

“I have asked that the resurfacing of High street be made a priority given the volume of traffic using the road on a daily basis.

“Local residents should have a road that is both safe to use and fit for purpose.

“Sinn Féin will continue to press DFI to ensure that these works are delivered for High street as soon as possible.
