SDLP Cusher representative Emmajayne McKernan has welcomed the continued roll out of Fibrus broadband as two roads in the Markethill area are set to temporarily close to facilitate works.
Ms McKernan said: “The continued rollout of fibrus broadband in Cusher is extremely welcome. For far too long people in this area have struggled with either poor or no broadband connectivity and I know many families in very rural parts are waiting patiently to benefit from this investment.
“The Department of Infrastructure has notified representatives of its intention to close Markethill Road (U8017) and Derryraine Road (U8006) from Friday 6 January to Monday 9 January 2023 from 8am to 5pm to facilitate works. I understand disruption will be kept to a minimum and diversions will be in place.
“Broadband connectivity is essential to our daily lives and the SDLP have been demanding rural communities have equal access for many years. This will be transformative for the area and the SDLP will continue to work with fibrus as the rollout continues.
