Sinn Féin councillor Bróna Haughey has said that drainage issues on the Ballymacnab road must be addressed urgently.
The Cusher Councillor said:
“I have been lobbying DFI for some time to address the flooding issue on this road.
“At this time of year, the excessive water on the surface after a flood is likely to freeze and present itself as a serious safety issue for those travelling on it.
“This was illustrated today when there was a collision on the road, following the freezing temperatures early this morning.
“This incident shows the very real threat that this flooding issue poses to people on this road.
“NI water has given a commitment to me that they will repair the issues on site following the collision today.
“It is important that there is a joint approach from both DFI and NI Water to deliver a real, long-term resolution to this issue for local residents and all those travelling on the road.
