At the event, which took place in Monaghan Row Civic Centre, Newry, the Chairperson outlined the history of how the Band was established and paid tribute to Luke Burke, its former musical director who retired in 2005 and to current musical director, Noel Mathers.

In this, its one hundredth year, the Band continues to go from strength to strength with the fantastic sound it’s become legendary for.  During the reception Chairperson Councillor Savage presented an engraved crystal bowl in commemoration of its centenary.
