Local Member of Parliament Carla Lockhart has urged the Department for Infrastructure (DFI) to take further steps to improve safety at the Moy Road, to prevent further accidents at this hot spot.
Carla Lockhart said:
“I receive considerable representations from constituents with concerns about the Moy Road, and the safety for motorists using that road.
Sadly, over recent years this road has had several accidents with drivers and passengers injured. In response to this I have been pressing the Department for Infrastructure to add a range of safety measures to improve awareness of the dangers.
This had led to additional signage being installed on the Moy Road, which is welcome. However, in recent weeks we have seen further accidents, so more needs to be done.
I would urge DFI to provide anti-skid surfacing on the road to assist drivers to brake faster if needed. This surfacing has proved effective in other areas and would help to prevent further accidents at this location. I trust DFI will respond positively to this call, as we work collectively to make local roads safer.”
