Three businesses within the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon borough recently scooped top awards at the highly prestigious Retail Industry Awards – with a fourth business also picking up a highly commended honour!
The Retail Industry Awards are a celebration of all that is great about the UK grocery retail sector and winners were selected by a panel of esteemed and experienced names within the industry.
JD Hunter & Co Eurospar, Markethill picked up the award for ‘Fresh Produce Retailer of the Year’. JD Hunter & Co have been providing groceries for over 100 years and follows a ‘passionate about local’ strategy – with a big emphasis on seasonal produce and local suppliers.
McGleenan’s Centra, Keady won the ‘Independent Retailer of the Year’ award for over 6,000sq ft. The foundation of its success has been the homemade cooking offered in-store, which people flock to the store for!
Wilsons Supervalu in Portadown, who has recently had a store refit and now features food-to-go with hot and cold deli counters, won the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award.
And finally, Campbells Eurospar in Banbridge – which has also had a recent refit – was Highly Commended in the ‘Food-to-go Retailer of the Year’ category.
“What an incredible achievement this has been for our local businesses to be recognised on this national platform for the excellence they bring to their local communities each day,” commented the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon.
“The competition at this level is fierce and the judges are hand-picked for their experience, knowledge and expertise – so for four businesses in our borough to come home with these tremendous awards is simply fantastic! Huge congratulations to each one!”
