Tory Chaos While Families Suffer- O’Dowd

Sinn Féin’s John O’Dowd has spoken of workers, families and businesses paying the price for the chaos and incompetence caused by the British Government.

Commenting on Liz Truss’ resignation as Prime Minister, the MLA said:

“Liz Truss has resigned after forty-five days of turmoil and instability caused by her and her party.

“The cost of living crisis and political insecurity in the north has worsened within that time, and ordinary working people are struggling to cope with the pressures that come with a government consistently failing to put average people first.

“People in Upper Bann are struggling to heat their homes and put food on the table. Businesses are finding it difficult to stay afloat as wages are failing to keep up with the increasing cost of living.

“Enough is enough. This Tory Government has no mandate in Ireland.

“With only a few days left to restore the Assembly, time is of the essence. Only an Executive in which all parties work together can tackle this crisis. The DUP must now end its boycott of government and work with the rest of us to protect people from the damage caused by this incompetent British government.”
