Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin has engaged with DFI on the issue of improving the Longfield road.
The Slieve Gullion councillor said:
“After part of the road had subsided in September I asked DFI to repair the road as a matter of urgency – which they did.
However, due to the boggy land that the road is built on, the repairs left the road with a ‘double-dip’.
“After reporting this to DFI, they carried out additional repairs to remove this ‘double dip’.
“I have now met again on site with two of their road engineers to assess the remaining safety issue on the road, a rise in the road surface.
“They have marked this defect on the site and will now begin further repairs to try and correct it.
“Hopefully these latest works will leave the road in a much safer condition for locals.”
