Damolly Retail Park Traffic Issues Must be Resolved – Casey

Sinn Féin councillor Charlie Casey has said that there must be a resolution found to the traffic issues coming from the Damolly retail park on the Armagh road.

The Newry city councillor said:

“This week alone there have been two traffic collisions on this stretch of road.

“Today, myself and my Sinn Féin colleague, Liz Kimmins met with local residents to hear their concerns around road safety and the issues caused by traffic coming from the retail park.

“We need to see everyone working together so that we can address the road safety issues here and make the area safer for both residents and road users.”

His colleague, Liz Kimmins MLA added:

“The Sinn Féin team here locally have been working closely with both the site ownersand DFI on this issue for some time.

“The owners of the retail park have been very co-operative and are also keen to help address these issues.

“We met the owners on site last August and have been in close contact since.

“They are currently working with the stakeholders in the park to find a way forward.

“The Sinn Féin team will continue to work closely with both the residents of the Armagh road and the owners of Damolly retail park to tackle this issue and make the area safer for everyone.”
