Sinn Féin Councillor Charlie Casey has expressed concerns around the standard of and access to facilities in Newry Leisure centre.
The Newry City Councillor said:
“In recent months we have been inundated by constituents concerned about the standards of hygiene and access to facilities on the site.
“Given the fact that this State of the Art facility is less than a decade old, this is unacceptable.
“Ratepayers across the district deserve the highest possible standard of service from their facilities, particularly one as prominent as the leisure centre here in the city.
“My colleague Mickey Brady MP raised this with the Chief Executive of the council last week and Sinn Féin has requested a meeting with the senior officials responsible for the management of the leisure centre.
“The only outcome acceptable to Sinn Féin will be the maintenance of the highest possible standards in this facility for ratepayers across the district.
