UNISON Northern Ireland Health Committee at its September meeting has resolved to join with all UNISON members in pushing for a better deal for NHS Health workers.
A spokesperson for UNISON said:
“We have already declared the below inflation PRB recommendation as failing to protect workers in an escalating cost of living crisis.
Work is now underway on getting ballot ready. Balloting is commencing in Scotland early October and in England and Wales mid October.”
“As we prepare to give members their vote, UNISON is bringing the issues to the door of political party leaders, meeting the Health Minister and asking Health employers what they are prepared to do deliver a fair pay uplift in these difficult times.
UNISON is also campaigning to reduce the reliance on agencies to provide staff.
The costs of using these has run into millions. This is leading to a privatisation of nursing and must be halted. This money is already in the system and should be shifted into the service improving pay rates.
This issue will be a key part of our fightback over the coming weeks and months.”
