Local MP Carla Lockhart and Portadown Councillor Margaret Tinsley have secured a range of improvements in the Bocombra and Drumnacanvy areas of Portadown, further to a number of issues being raised my members of the local community.
Updating residents on the works carried out, Carla Lockhart said;
“As public representatives both Margaret and I are committed to delivering on the issues that matter to local communities, and responding to community concerns.
With this in mind, we have secured a number of improvements in the Bocombra and Drumnacanvy areas. These include the painting of new hazard lines on the approach to Bocombra school, at the entrance to Chatswood Place urging motorists to keep clear. We have also received an assurance from the PSNI that their speed trailer will be deployed in the area when school returns, to help address concerns from residents that excess speed continues to pose a danger in the area. We continue to press the Department for Infrastructure to bring in a 20mph limit in the vicinity of the school. These have been rolled out at a number of local schools and have been seen to drive speed down. It would be fantastic for such a speed restriction and associated signage to be introduced at the school too.”
Councillor Margaret Tinsley added:
“In addition to the measures Carla has outlined, we have also ensured that the mini roundabout in Drumnacanvy Lodge has been restored. Some bricks had fallen from the roundabout, but these have now been replaced and pointed.
As always, we remain here to help local communities in any way we can, and I would encourage anyone with a matter needing addressed in their community or residential area to get in touch and Carla and I will do what we can to secure a positive outcome.”
