We Need an Executive to Support Our Vital Community Groups – Kimmins

Sinn Féin MLA, Liz Kimmins has insisted that we need an Executive formed as soon as possible to continue to support the community and voluntary sector, such as Bolster Community, in Newry and the vital work they do for our communities.

The Newry and Armagh MLA said:

“Recently, we met with Bolster Community in Newry to discuss the current pressures facing many workers and families who are struggling as prices of food and fuel continue to rise.

“Bolster staff highlighted how they are seeing a sharp rise in those seeking assistance over the last number of weeks and are expecting this to continue to rise as the pressures of winter begin to kick in.

“Bolster are an absolutely fantastic organisation who do so much good work for our community.

“They provide critical services to prevent homelessness, support families and adults with learning disabilities and through their fantastic ‘Home to Hospital’ service.

“Bolster and other groups like them in our area are an absolute life line to so many in our community and their importance will only grow as the cost of living crisis is expected to worsen.

“We need an Executive now to continue supporting our community groups and the vital work they do for workers and families.

“The DUP need to recognise the real consequences of their boycott of the executive. The approach of the DUP in this deepening crisis is totally indefensible and a dereliction of duty.”
