Bank Holiday Events This August in Newry and Mourne

August bank holiday 2022 is set to a massive spectacle in Newry and Mourne with an events schedule stacked within the district set to provide a boost to local business.

With headline acts such as Iur Cinn Fleadh in Newry and the Skylite festival in Warrenpoint Clanrye News and Sport is bringing you a one stop guide to what is set to a fun filled weekend of craic and entertainment.

Iur Cinn Fleadh

Thursday 25th –Monday 29th

Iur Cinn Fleadh returns from a two year hiatus due to Covid and it is set to be their biggest event yet. Find music, arts and amazing events all over Newry City.

Open mic night at Nan Rice’s with Jenny Deane

Thursday 25th

The amazing and extremely talented Jenny Deane is hosting an open mic night at Nan Rice’s bar in Newry.

Skylite Festival

Saturday 27th – Sunday 28th

The annual Skylite festival based at No7 Duke Street in Warrenpoint returns for its sixth year with this year the festivities being spread out over two days instead of one. The popular annual event returns with amazing acts such as Sugartown Road and the Nooks to name but a few along with the amazing special guest Fabu D.

Saturday 27th – Sunday 28th

The incredible market place event Meat Feast returns with a double helping of events being held in both Hilltown (Dorans Bar 27th) and Newry Market (28th).

An absolute jam packed line up of headliners, club runners and viral sensations (even after the antibiotics).

One half of the Deckchair and Yumz Podcast and resident host of Dalys comedy club Omagh makes it all the way to Newry for one night only. Yumz himself.

Rounding out the night its Boiler room Strabane comedy club, one host of the Big Massive Podcast and Writer and star of hit play Orange is the new Green.

Three Ways Community Festival

Sunday 28th August

Only a few weeks to go for our Community and Family Fun Day which will take place on Sunday 28th August from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm in the Ropewalk Synthetic Pitch adjacent to Three Ways Community Centre

As part of a weekend of events, the fun day will be packed with lots of fun for all including inflatable’s, fairground rides, refreshments and entertainment. 

Admission is FREE. However, donations at the gate to our chosen charities would be appreciated.

Newry Water Festival

Monday 29th August

The Festival will allow young people to experience and access the City’s canal through land and water based sports, including kayak racing, wall climbing and archery, where teams of up to 10 young people aged 12+ will compete against each other.  Prebooking is essential and a swimming competency of at least 25 metres is required to participate.  Changing facilities and refreshments will be provided.  It is advisable that young people come prepared to get wet!
