This week, Thursday 11th of August a protest will take place in Newry supporting the family of Noah Donohoe. The protest surrounds the recent decision by the new Secretary of State, Shailesh Vara and the Chief Constable of the PSNI Simon Byrne who have signed a PII certificate relating to the Noah Donohoe case.
The 14-year-old was found dead in a storm drain in North Belfast in 2020.
Speaking from their social media one of the organisers said:
“On Thursday 11th August at 7pm we invite you all to join us at, Newry Courthouse to protest against the indefensible signing of a PII Certificate by the Chief Constable of the PSNI – Simon Byrne & the Secretary of State for NI Shailesh Vara MP.
This legislation is a gagging of vital information which should be disclosed fully in order to uncover the truth of what happened to Noah Donohoe that fateful day. We demand that this process be halted and these signatures revoked.”
“The final say on PII now lies with the Coroner Mr Joe McCrisken. Stand in solidarity with us against this abhorrent abuse of power.
Be Noah’s Voice Give Fiona the Truth!
Fight against PII and fight for the safety of all our children. We need you all on the streets now more than ever.”
