Sinn Féin Councillor, Roisin Mulgrew, has condemned the dumping of a large quantity of Diesel cubes inside a 40ft trailer on the Dublin road.
The Newry city councillor said:
“The most recent dumping has seen a 40ft trailer filled with diesel cubes abandoned in a lay-by on the Dublin road.
“This has happened on four previous occasions this year alone.
“This material is poisonous to our environment and those behind this illegal activity have no regard for our community.
“Cleaning up this costs the council and ratepayers huge amounts of money and those behind this dumping must understand the negative impact this has on community development.
“The community does not want these toxins unleashed upon it. It is long past time that those involved in Diesel laundering stopped poisoning their country, neighbours and their own families.
“I appeal with anyone who may have seen anything to contact the relevant authorities.”
