Aontú Deputy Leader Cllr. Denise Mullen has criticised the stall on the NHS pay rise due to the DUP stance on the protocol
Speaking today, Cllr Denise Mullen said “The DUP’s stance on the Protocol is preventing the NHS staff from getting a well-deserved pay rise. The Stormont dysfunction is preventing the health minister from pushing through recommendations made by pay review bodies into an agreed budget”
Cllr Mullen continued “This is a slap in the face to the hard-working NHS staff, who have put themselves at risk to treat the needs of our communities over the past few years. While the reality of the cost-of-living crisis is becoming increasingly stark, many NHS staff are being pushed to the line. Already, we’re hearing stories about fuel and energy poverty. This is a horrendous situation to put our NHS staff in. They need this pay rise”
“The establishment parties at Stormont must stop playing games with people’s lives. They’re petty playground politics is an embarrassment that the people of the North of Ireland are paying for” concluded Cllr Mullen
