Sinn Féin councillor, Declan Murphy, has welcomed news that a number of public works will be carried out for the regeneration of Bessbrook village.
The Sinn Féin councillor explained:
“I’ve engaged with other parties and community reps from Bessbrook to help see these works delivered.
“We are now able to sign off on a number of enhancement projects for the village.
“This will include an upgrade of the heritage lighting by DFI.
“The new ‘Small Settlement Scheme’ will see new signage, new bins and upgrades to footpaths and flowerbeds.
“We are also exploring ways to enhance traffic management and regulate parking within the village.
“In addition, the play areas at Charlemont square and College Square are to be landscaped to enhance the aesthetic of the area, while I have also requested fencing be put in place around the new play area at Bessbrook pond.
“The council will be further consulting with the public on these proposals.”
