Chairperson, Councillor Michael Savage was delighted to launch Newry, Mourne and Down District Council’s summer activity programme. The Summer Programme is for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy. The programme includes everything from outdoor swimming, fishing camps to multi-sports sessions and pop-up play sessions.
A Spokesperson for the council said:
“Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has launched its ‘Be Active Summer Programme’ for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy. The Summer Programme has been devised to meet the Council’s commitment to improve health and wellbeing across the district as part of its Corporate Plan 2021-23.
There are £1 Summer promotions across leisure centres and discounts for under 18 group sports activities throughout the summer months.“
“The multi sports sessions provide an opportunity for children to take part in active, fun and rewarding sporting activities. These enable children to try many different sports at a young age to broaden their interests and knowledge in physical activity.
The free pop up play sessions involve unstructured activity that encourages children to use their imagination, such as playing with toys, sports equipment, the environment and natural resources.“
“There is also a Teen Activity Week, the opportunity to book into the Wheelie Active programme and autism friendly swim sessions.“
