Street Feast Food & Drink Event Returns to Newry

An innovative food and drink event showcasing local producers will be making a welcome return to Newry Market on Friday 24th June 2022 (6pm – 10pm).

“Street Feast” has been created by Camlough based chef Melissa McCabe to bring together people in a relaxed environment to celebrate good food, sourced locally. Melissa has travelled extensively, working in many fine dinning restaurants. After returning home, she met with many others in the food business who wanted a platform for their products.

Melissa commented “We have held two Street Feasts in Newry and one in Newcastle. We got a great reaction from visitors to the mix of food, craft stalls and live entertainment. Newry Market is an ideal location with the covered roof and stalls. We want to see it grow to become a regular monthly event.

We have farmers, chefs, distillers and breweries making world class food and drink on our doorstep. The bar offers a range of spirits from Killowen distillery, Whitewater brewery and Kilmegan cider to name a few. The Chefs use ingredients sourced from places like Castlescreen farm, William Bairds, Nature’s Nosh, Peggy’s family farm and Sea source for freshly landed local seafood. It is great to see these Chefs as well as bakers, artisans, farmers and crafters interacting directly with the public.

People want to learn more about the food they are eating and the story behind the makers. It’s a wonderful thing being able to tell your diner exactly where their food has come from, the care in the preparation and then they get to watch it being cooked in front of them.” The atmosphere is electric and there really is something for everyone. We encourage you to come along, show your support for local and enjoy an evening with friends and family.

At the next Street Feast on Friday 24th June 6pm to 10pm entertainment will be provided by The Wolf from 6-8pm and Mickey Murphy and Pete Benson from 8-10pm. Admission is £2 pay on entry and kids go free.
