Sinn Féin MLA Cathy Mason has said the cost of school uniforms need to be cut.
The South Down MLA said:
“Sinn Féin has a plan to cut the costs of school uniforms for families and we are determined to work with others to make this happen.
“Families are crying out for support on this issue and the DUP’s boycott of the Assembly is only piling more pressure on people.
“Just last week students received notification of their school places, and parents are now having to make preparations for uniforms and PE gear which are costing parents hundreds of pounds per-child every year, this is unacceptable and must be addressed.
“With the cost of living rising, urgent action is needed to support families and I am calling on the DUP to get back to work and to support measures which would drive down school uniform costs.
“I will work to ensure school uniforms are affordable for all families.”
