Police in Newry are appealing for information following a report of criminal damage caused to a headstone at a cemetery in the Chapel Hill area of the city.
Sergeant McBride said: “Officers received a report that sometime between 8am on Saturday 23rd April and 1pm yesterday, Sunday 24th April, damage was caused to a headstone.
“This incident has taken place at a place where visitors should rightfully expect to be able to come and pay respects to loved ones who are no longer with them.
“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area between these times, or who may have any information which could assist, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1051 of 24/04/22.”
