Magennis Urges Rapid Resurface Works

Sinn Fein councillor, Oonagh Magennis has welcomed a commitment from DFI to resurface a number of roads in the South Armagh area but has urged that many of these must be a top priority for the department.

The Slieve Gullion councillor said:

“It’s good to see that the department have committed to tackling the state of some of the roads in our area.

“However, the conditions on roads such as the Newry Road in Camlough and the Hall road – Crossmaglen road in Lislea must be addressed urgently.

“These roads are in a serious state of disrepair and this must be addressed as soon as possible.

“The other main roads in South Armagh are also on the list for urgent repair and we’re pressing DFI for an update on them as soon as possible.

“These roads were previously agreed to be resurfaced in 2020/2021 but legal action has held this up.

“Sinn Fein is committed to delivering real change for rural communities and that means ensuring that our roads are kept safe for workers and families across Newry and Armagh.
