Dr Steve Aiken OBE MLA, UUP Finance spokesperson and Chair of the Finance Committee has stated that the DUP`s decision to collapse the Executive puts the vital transformation of health services in real danger.
Steve Aiken said:
“The collapse of the Executive has brought about a budgetary crisis. For once, with over an additional £300M to be allocated across departments, there was a real opportunity to make the lives of the people of Northern Ireland better.
“Regrettably, instead of three years of planning based on an agreed budget, we now have the very real possibility of only 95% of the annual budget being allocated. This will bring real challenges to the Health Service – and puts in real danger the vital transformation of our services.”
