Alongside local DUP Councillor Mark Baxter, Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has visited the new Waringstown Men’s Shed to meet with the group leaders and how the new project will help local men.
Carla Lockhart said:
“A Men’s Shed is a fantastic asset in any community and it is great to see this new project in the Waringstown area.
This space provides somewhere for local men to come and have a chat, build friendships, learn new skills and share experiences. There is no doubt that the whole issue of men’s mental health is a significant one, and the impact of lockdown as a result of the pandemic has only exacerbated these problems. Loneliness and isolation are major issues in our society and we can see how Men’s Shed’s can help to tackle these matters through a trusted environment.”
Cllr. Mark Baxter added:
“The creation of this Men’s Shed is great news for the community here in Waringstown. I know several people who attend and participate in other Men’s Shed’s and they love the camaraderie amongst the men, whist also being to utilise skills and learn new ones.
This is a very welcoming place and I would encourage local men to make use of this facility. I commend those behind the creation of the Shed for their vision and commitment to the betterment of our area and the people who live in it.”
